Casper the friendl ghost is back!

After a long ausence for the comics, and a big failure with the Casper's scare school Books, The friendly ghost will make his glorious return to Comic boks, with not only one but 2 new comic books, this is an important step for our beloved Ghost, An evidence that Casper isn't a Dead franchice, These new projects are mainly targeted to old school casper fans, so the Caspers scare school characters aren't going to be part of this, sorry CSS fans.

But lest talk about the upcoming casper books:

1.- Casper the friendly ghost

This will be a reboot featuring Caspe and his friends Hot stuff the little devil and Wendy the little good witch, published by American Mithology comics, this  books resembles pretty much the old good days from Harvey comics, So the modern version of Hot stuff and Wendy won't appear in this book,  the art is pretty similar to the original style from harvey, I am hyped about this one, but  We will need to wait until april to Enjoy this new series.

2,- Harvey hits 

This is a little different from the comic book above,  also targeted to Classic casper fans and published by Joe books, Harvey Hits will include most of Harvey beloved character including Casper, Wendy, Spooky, Hot stuff, Richi rich, Big lotta, Little dot, etc, but with brand new art from Art baltazart, Know for his cute Style from books such as Tiny Titans and Itty bitty Hellboy, Personally I like Baltazar's style,  If you are looking for a funny story with cute fan art this book is for you.

Character of the month Spooky the tuff little ghost.

I know I dont't post a character every month, but I don't care just realised I posted a comic with hot stuff and spooky but I never introduced the latter..... some people (mainly casper's scare school fans) may be wondering Who the hell is this character? is this another casper ripoff? So I decided to write a post about him...

Spooky is casper's michievous cousin that actually likes to scare humas, which makes him pretty much casper's opposite, pretty much what woulf happen if Hot stuff and casper had a baby with a brooklin accent.
But actually Spooky is one of the oldest characters in casper franchice in fact he has been arround nearly the same time than the ghostly trio,  spooky  debuted in casper the friendly ghost #10 in 1953,,
Afteer a pair of years appearing in casper comics Harvey decided spooky was popular enough to star his own comic:

 Spooky also apeared in a lot of casper media, he appeared in some of the best episodes of the original casper show,  april's fool  episode from that show,  is one of the most memorable spooky appearences, Spooky also was one of the main characters in the 90's hit series; the spooktacular new aventures of casper,, despite being auscent in the movie which this cartoon is based on he became one of the funniest characters of the show, later he appearend in casper's haunted christmas His last appearence was as a minor character in the comic book "casper and the spectrals" from 2010.

 I must admit the little rascal is one of my favorite characters in casper franchice, he is mean, mischevous, loves to scare humans and he always gets into funny situations, but the best part of the character is his relationship with  his girlfriend known as pearl aka poil their character interaction is one of the funniest and wackiest in casper series ... Sure they had a ton of couple problems, even  spooky  tried date other girls, but  in the end they make a really good pairing.

Spooky and Hot stuff in "A menace from mars"

Today I will do  something different, I will post a scan of a classic comic book of the havey characters, this is a good oportunity to post a story starring  two  of my favorite characters in casper franchise, Hot stuff the little devil and spooky tha tuff little ghost (casper's cousin).

Spooky was lucky he is ghost,  otherwise that giant iceberge from outer space would have killed him, I mean look at the size of that crater,

KIds dont do this, when an UFO from outer space lands  over your head, pressing  the red buttons is never a good idea 

I know the comics are old, but did really people think aliens looked  like that? the first one is just a dude wearing a viking helmet, well the second one is a bit less patetic, but it looks lile the typical ogres from harvey comics.

wait, aren't ghost uncorporeal? How can they be frozen by an ordinary alien weapon designed for mundane beings? Nobody knows, but the biggest mystery, is the "boo" being turned to crystals What kind of avanced technology is that?

Wait Is pearl using a plant as a phone?  Forget about alien technology! the enchanted forest has way more advanced stuff.

Blasting those aliens to mars sure puts spooky on superman's power level, but I am more suprised of how Ghost are able to eat.. I mean they have not organs to digest food, also at least Hot stuff and charma can make babies, but I am not so sure about spooky and pearl, anyway the last panel is a really cute escene of "puppy love".

Casper may be an obscure character nowadays, mainly because the  failure of the latest attemps of bringing the character to new audiences (casper's scare school wasn't popular at all) but back in the day casper was one of the most popular cartoon characters ever In fact he was the second most recognizable  cartoon character, only surpassed by Micky mouse, so its not strange that some people tried to jump in the wagon of casper's popularity.....

4.- Timmy the timid ghost

Created in 1956 as an attemp to milk casper's popularity,  timmy was a ghost with...  a timid personality, yes the writeres werent original even at naming thiir ripoff, timmy looked like casper if if was a cartoon form the 30's, this copycats was one of first characters that tried to copy casper and one of the most successful since this comic book series ran from 1956 to 1971.

3.-Super spook

From  Ajax comics,  also known as Mighty ghost, the series follows the adventures of a ghost boy with superpowers. it is basically what would happen if superman and casper had a baby, this series only ran for a few issues before ajax created an even more original characters that will appear next on the list.

2.- Spunky the smiling spook

Published  by the same original autors behind Super pook, spunky is casper's lost twin brother, a little friendly ghost, just like casper, even they look so alike, if someone removes the titile I could mistake this book for a casper comic, but unlike casper spunky had a little more mischievous personality,  which resembles Spooky, caspers cousin wih a suspecius similar name,

1.- Homer the happy Ghost.

So far we have seen many shameless ripoffs, so maybe you wonder... how can anyone beat spunky? Obviously you never heard of Homer the Happy ghost, it was a really special cause since it was created by Atlas comic nowadays  known as Marvel comics, even the Legenday Stan lee wrote most of its stories, So I am sure he would become a member of the avengers in the marvel cinemetic universe, ok that is not likely, but Homer beats Spunky because even he has His own version of Spooky, renamed Dungan the dead end Ghost (see the picture above)

Character of the month: Thatch the vampire

Happy halloween,  after talking about classic characters I think its time for something different, a Character which isn't part of the original cannon, but became really popular among the fans of the lastest casper's animated series, especially among girls, Of course I mean Thatch the vampire he is like a fangirl magnet.

Thatch debuted in the movie Casper's scare school in 2006, despite being much  less popular than other casper movies,   introduced a lot of new characters for a new generations of casper fans, well it is a reboot tageted to an public   that never read the otiginal casper comics, and I pretty sure thatch is the most popular Casper's scare school character  since he stars most of css fanart and fiction.

In the movie the vampire  is introduced as the big man at school, the schoool bully and alder and dash's right hand, Thatch casper's opposite  mean, unfriendly,arrogant he acts like the main antagonist of the film and casper's rival, manly because the vampire  hates casper's friendly personality and tried to get casper expelled, from scare school,

In the TV series he is the leader of his own gang that is always looking for trouble, but he also has different roles, sometimes he helps casper but most of the time he acts like a jerk, especially in the second season where the writers made him the main villain, he made some of the most evil things we have seen in the franchise, very sadly for his fans that wanted him to be a good guy, yeah troll writers!!

He is basically the "Draco malfoy" of casper franchise,  that isn't someting bad since I have to admit he was one of funniest character of the series, always gettting into hilarious situations like kissing a frog, being kicked by mickey  and he also kissed the sea monster of scare school, it is important to say most of the fanfiction writers use him as main character in their stories and  love to pair him with their oc's , He is one of the few CSS character that brought sometime new to the table, this is the first time casper has a rival, and that makes him an interesting addition to the franchise, although CSS was cancelled, seeing  thatch again It would be interensting.

Now I finally updated all the Scare school episodes to the blog, but I don't know how to make the blog more popular,so  I am going to update episodes of one of my favorite casper cartoons: The spooktacular new aventures of casper, this show was created in the 90's as an spinoff of the first casper movie, (which is in my opinion the best casper media after casper and the spectrals) the series has a funnier tone than previus casper cartoons, mainly because the character break the fourth wall pretty often, it is kinda similar to series such as  animatiacs, More episodes soon.
